Nicholas Antenucci picked up where he left off in his last start as his solid pitching led the Vikings to a 6-4 victory in Game 1 of their double dip versus Ulster on Saturday. Antenucci was coming off a 5-inning perfect game in his last outing and being named as the NJCAA Division II Pitcher of the Week.

Through four innings the sophomore faced just one batter over the minimum as he continued to hold the opponent scoreless. Trouble found him in the fifth though as two errors led to two unearned runs by Ulster.

WCC got on the board right away when James Houlahan singled home Scottie Giordano, who walked ahead of him. Houlahan then scored on a sacrifice fly by CJ Sager and Paul Franzese was plated on a single by Bobby Wooten. The Vikings extended their lead in the fourth inning when Sergio Osorio scored on a Giordano double. Giordano then scored on a sacrifice fly by Houlahan.

Ulster closed the gap in the 6th inning when they scored two runs on four hits.  Antenucci was able to steady himself though to get out of the jam and work around an error in the 7th, finishing contest with a strikeout to seal the win. His final line was 7 innings pitched, scattering 7 hits while giving up two earned runs with no walks and 4 strikeouts.

Giordano went 1 for 2 with a double and two runs scored. James Houlahan was 1 for 3 with a run and 2 RBIs.

The nightcap was a different story, however, as the visitors scored seven runs during the first three innings, and cruised to a 10-1 win.The lone Viking run came during the fourth inning when CJ Sager scored on a Sean Vanegas single, but WCC was held to three hits during the game.
