PTK Blood Drive
The Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK) is hosting their annual Fall Blood Drive on Tuesday Oct. 2 and Wednesday Oct. 3 of next week, in collaboration with the New York Blood Center.
The Blood Drive will be conducted in the Technology Building Lounge from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Students are required to provide a valid photo ID and be eligible to donate blood( ). Students do not have to know their blood type beforehand as they will be able to test the blood that is donated. All donations will be given to the New York Blood Centers’ blood bank.
PTK members have set up tables around campus to sign up students to donate blood. Students can sign up beforehand, but walk ins will be accepted. Students who sign up beforehand will receive text message reminders the day of, and save themselves some paperwork on the day of the blood drive.
The blood drive was started back in 2009 by Adam Frank to get students engaged with a cause that contributes towards saving lives.
“One donation can save up to three lives,” said Jeremiah Konde, PTK Vice President of Service. “We had 99 donners last semester and we’d like to surpass that number this year.”
The blood drive happens every semester, so students will have further opportunities to donate if they cannot make it to this particular blood drive.
