Sophmore’s Career Night Leads Men’s Basketball Team Past Mount St. Vincent
Sophomore Maxx Miller (White Plains, NY/Mount Saint Michael) scored a career-high 25 points, and Gabriel Cruz (Bronx, NY/In-Tech Academy) finished a phenomenal week with 23 points as the Westchester Community College Men’s Basketball team used a second-half rally to down the College of Mount Saint Vincent JV team, 101-80 on Thursday night at the College of Mount Saint Vincent. With the win, the Vikings still have not been outscored by an opponent during 17 games this season.
It was a tale of two halves as a back-and-forth affair marked the first half as WCC led 48-45 at the break. However, the visiting Vikings were able to change the tempo during the second half, outscoring MSV 53-35 during the final 20 minutes to gain another victory.
Miller was simply incredible during the second half, scoring 23 of his 25 points during the final 20 minutes, including two huge three-pointers.
Also for WCC, Tremaine Fraiser (Port Chester, NY/Trinity Catholic) scored 14 points, including 10 during the second half, and Drew Bronen (Suffern, NY/Suffern HS) continued his fine recent play with 12 points.
WCC ends a four-game road-trip on Tuesday, Jan. 30 when the Vikings travel to Dutchess Community College for a 7:00 p.m. start. The Vikings return home on Thursday, Feb. 1 when they host Rockland Community College at 7:00 p.m.
