37 Runs Scored in Doubleheader Sweep Against Orange County

The Vikings swept two games and the series against the Colts of Orange County up in Middletown, NY, by the scores of 19-8 and 18-7 respectively.

In game 1, OCC jumped out to an early 2-0 after the first inning. After a 5-run second inning by WCC in the top of the second, Orange scored 6 runs to take back their lead 8 to 5. The Viking bats would erupt yet again, scoring 14 runs in the fourth and the fifth innings to help solidify a comeback win.

Felix Camacho (St. Raymond’s HS/Bronx, NY) led the offense by going 4 for 5 with a homerun, a double and 5 RBIs. Steve Guzman (John F. Kennedy HS/Bronx, NY) also contributed with a double of his own and had 4 RBIs.

Brian Corporan, CJ Sager, Jon Carlo Angiolillo, and Alonso Tenya also contributed with 2 hits each in the win. Ryan Mullaly (Somers HS/Somers, NY) earned his fourth win in relief by pitching 3 1/3 innings of 4-hit baseball, only giving up 1 earned run.

In game 2, Westchester’s bats stayed hot, scoring at least one run per inning and pounding out 17 hits over the 7 inning game. With another 5 run second inning and two 4-run innings, the Vikings sealed a victory over the Colts.

Offensively, WCC was led by Brian Corporan (Environmental Studies HS/Bronx, NY) and Steve Guzman with 3 hits, 2 doubles and 5 RBIs each. Guzman also added 2 triples during the game. Alex Borman, Scottie Giordano, and CJ Sager added to the run support with 2 hits a piece along with Paul Franzese’s (Somers HS/Somers, NY) solo home run.

With these 2 wins, the Vikings are now 30-11, making this the 6th year in a row with 30 or more wins during the season. Westchester also moves into first place in the Mid-Hudson Conference with a 12-4 record.

WCC will finish off their regional play with a 4 game set against the Ulster Senators. The first game will be played on Thursday, May 4 with a 3:30pm start time.
